About the playwright
Monique Dumaine is a talented playwright known for her captivating and thought-provoking plays. Her work delves into various themes and emotions, creating a rich tapestry of storytelling.
Vision
I am a playwright driven by a simple, rebellious mission: to rewrite the stage with women front and centre. My work is guided by a creative manifesto—one that champions female voices, explores the rich complexities of women’s relationships, and unpacks life’s awkward, joyful, messy moments from a distinctly female perspective.
Through every scene I write, I aim to create bold, nuanced, age-inclusive roles that reflect the stories we don’t see enough of: friendships, friction, resilience, reinvention, grief, love, rage, and the occasional champagne-fuelled existential crisis.
I believe in crafting powerful lead roles for women, by women, to give female-identifying performers more space to shine—not just as sidekicks or stereotypes, but as the emotional and narrative powerhouses they are. My plays are a celebration of womanhood in all its forms.

Fabulous. Whether you're a community theatre, fringe festival team, school group, or a fully-fledged production company — I’d love to hear from you. My plays are written with strong, diverse roles for women and plenty of room for creative interpretation. Let's get them on stage where they belong. Once approved, you'll receive the perfomance script, licensing agreement, and optional promo materials. And if you're local or staging a full production - invite me, I'll be your biggest fan!
